These pads are the original German patented pad that Abralon, SiaAir and other pads are based on. These can be used for surface conditioning with a sanding performance far better than conventional paper abrasives in fine grades. Due to the special structure of the Jost UseIt Superpad SG and SG-2, solid surfaces like Corian, Staron, Formica, Avonite, etc. as well as acrylic glasses and high gloss surfaces can be sanded and polished with considerably fewer pads. With Superpad SG and SG-2, achieving a high polished surface on stainless steel and non-ferrous metals is possible in less time and better results.

Constructed with a fabric face, foam center, and a H&L (grip) backing.

  • Abrasive grains are bonded evenly to the fabric face.
  • Openings in the fabric allow water, solvent and air to flow freely around the Abrasive. Provides for continuous dust extraction when using vacuum systems.
  • Works especially well when sanding contoured surfaces, corners and edges.
  • Open cell design holds large amounts of water or solvent for lubrication and cooling.
  • Foam center also provides for even surface pressure that helps eliminate pressure point flat spotting.

Jost SuperPad SG and SG2 Pads

  • Original patented design. Combines benefits of Abrasive cloth and non-woven products.
  • Most recommended product brand for finishing Corian as per DuPont Surfaces Fabricator Training Series.
  • If you have been using Mirka brand Abralon pads for Corian, you should use a Jost 800 grit pad for similar matte-satin-sheen finish as a Mirka Abralon 360 grit pad.

  • Great for sanding & polishing Solid surface counter tops. For Corian counter top high-gloss finish, you will start with a 240 Grit & pre-finish with 320 through 1500 Grit. You may then apply a high gloss with SG2 grits 1600 through 4000. Recommended for use with a random orbit sander. Provides a superior finish to similar products without fine swirl marks.
  • This is a good sanding pad for the automotive industry with clear-coat and non clear-coat finishes. It is also used for the wood-working industry, especially when used for all kinds of lacquer finishes.

About SuperPad SG and SG2 pads - often called Abralon-type pads

SG and SG2 sanding pads offer a unique design that allows the flexibility of sanding smooth, flat surfaces in addition to curved and complex areas. These pads are useful in virtually every environment including automotive, marine, solid-surface countertop, bowling-ball and woodworking industries. These products may be used dry, damp or wet by hand or with machine - the flexible and open construction allows air and liquids to pass freely. The Jost pads offer superior performance to many other similar pads.

Coarser grits are best for preparation of automotive body surfaces before primer and lacquer applications. Finer grits are recommended for working primers and lacquers, preparing transitions for blending and finishing top coat before polish stages.

Abralon-type pads dramatically improve solid surface countertop finish quality over common sanding discs. Woodworkers use these between coats and to improve lacquer sheen with finer grits.

These pads are used for a manufacturer's finish on bowling balls and also allow the bowling enthusiast to tune the break point of the bowling ball by experimenting with different levels of polishing; bowling balls spinners were designed for these.
